What is the ideal decomposition time?  How about for small piles?  What about medium or large piles say, 8 X 10 X 4 feet?  Note: X means "by".

There are some advantages and disadvantages of woodchip mulch and we have to take care on the plants that require wood chips. If you use on wrong plants or long time then that would cause into fungal disease.[Image: 20101018mycelium.jpg]

It takes a really long time for wood chips to decompose if you are using them as mulch. However, if you are using wood dust, it will start decomposing in a few weeks.
