I have seen online so many are growing mint using stems with large area. Do I need red soil or any other compost for growing mint?

First of all, you need to dip your mint cuttings in water for a week and let the soot systems develop. Once, the cuttings have a good root system, you can plant them in the soil. You can use any kind of soil but it needs good drainage.

I've never had luck growing mint from stems nor from seeds. However, once I have mint, it tends to propagate itself without any help from me.
