Avocado is a fruit. It grow in trees. Growing avocado is not very difficult. You can easily sprout an avocado plant from the deeds.

I think it's similar to how we view tomatoes. We use it as a vegetable when technically it's a fruit. I know of many people who have tried sprouting one from seeds with success. Only problem with it is, here anyways, avocadoes cannot grow in our colder climate outdoors.
