How do I cable a solenoid on a landscape sprinkler valve?

I am trying to build a cannon and like to install a sprinkler valve using a solenoid valve for automation. Could some one help me for having an automate switch on/off?
Please include diagram for connecting wires, Thanks

Do you have a timer? if so yes please post images of your timer and solenoid valve which you bought from the store.

With a Timer you can do automatic anything, just attach the timer with solenoid valve and you are on the way. Do you have 230v or 12volts or 24volts solenoid valve? choose timer according to the voltage of Solenoid Vavle.
