  Spraying Hydrogen Peroxide on Fungi

If you had a closed terrarium system, would you use this stuff on it?   Note, the one I am mentioning would specifically have moss in it.  Anyway, I know of a story about mold harming moss, so I was wondering about the best protection.

What is the ideal decomposition time?  How about for small piles?  What about medium or large piles say, 8 X 10 X 4 feet?  Note: X means "by".

What are the ideal indoor growing conditions for them?  Is air conditioning bad for them?  How much do they usually cost?  What is a good deal on them?   What can go wrong with them?

  What is your gardening experience?
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:42 PM - Forum: Gardening - Replies (12)

Myself, I grew up on a rural farm.  However, it wasn't really a farm, at least, not compared to my dad's time.  I mean, my dad picked his parent's crops to survive - while crops I occasionally have picked were made for fun.

OK, anyway, as somewhat noted, I occasionally hoed some weeds in a garden and once in a blue moon picked potatoes quite viciously.

Keeping Out Underground Animals from the Garden
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:40 PM - Forum: Gardening - Replies (2)

Some of them, gophers for instance, need to be kept out in a way that's fairly humane.  I mean, look at scarecrows.  There is a system to keep out crows - where no crows are killed!

Do you trust grocery store food?
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:38 PM - Forum: Gardening - Replies (1)

I have some reservations.  Anyway, some of it stinks - besides the fact it might be GMO.  In fact, one reason is because they simply don't taste as good as organic and/or grown at home!

Scarecrows - Do they still work?
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:34 PM - Forum: Gardening - Replies (5)

In the case of gardens, I'm guessing things are the same as back in The Wizard of Oz.  In other words, those pesky crows and other things are still going to come in.

So, OK, who uses scarecrows?   What is your battle plan?

  Growing Ginseng
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:31 PM - Forum: Gardening - Replies (6)

In my home of Tennessee, USA - ginseng is in high demand, but it seems to only be for the wild stuff.  Anyway, I was wondering if there was any demand for the tame type.  I mean, is it something that could be profitable grown?  How would you do it?

Homemade Greenhouse - Yes or no?
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:29 PM - Forum: vegetables - Replies (5)

Those common greenhouses look rather expensive, so I was wondering about a homemade alternative.  OK, what would you build it with?  Would it be cheap? Would it be cheaper and/or higher quality than commercial stuff?

  Potato Farming
Posted by: Jayson - 09-10-2018, 09:26 PM - Forum: vegetables - Replies (5)

My experience with farming is nothing like what my Dad went thru.  I mean, he grew up on a rural farm back when it was really tough!

Anyway, though, I have had some experience picking potatoes so I was wondering who has done that - or has been the main farmer raising them?  OK, how did you raise them?  Did you grow them for profit?   What were your results?
