What purpose this sprinkler can be used since I don't see they are not useful to anyone?

That Slow Mo Guys video at 100,000 fps is a great way to understand how a fire sprinkler actually works. The glass bulb inside the sprinkler is filled with a heat-sensitive liquid. As the temperature rises, the liquid expands and builds pressure until the bulb shatters. Once the bulb breaks, the plug is released and the pressurized water flows out, hits the deflector plate, and spreads into a wide spray pattern.
The slow-motion footage clearly shows the bulb cracking, the instant release of pressure, and how the water jet breaks into droplets after hitting the deflector. It also helps clear a common myth—only the sprinkler exposed to enough heat activates, not all sprinklers at once. Simple design, but very clever engineering. |
