  Pruning
Posted by: ZandraJoi - 02-27-2023, 09:00 AM - Forum: Gardening - No Replies

Do you have a system of when & how you prune? Do you do it seasonally? Or perhaps only when they are in need of it? Do you pay attention to the "rules" of when you should prune? i.e. in the spring or in the fall?
We don't prune that often but when we do, it's more for when they need it rather than a seasonal to-do.

Do you plant flowers in a certain way?
Posted by: ZandraJoi - 02-27-2023, 08:58 AM - Forum: Gardening - No Replies

i.e. you make sure smaller ones are in front, larger in back? Or perhaps plant according to when they bloom. Some people plant flowers so that they bloom in order.

The Machines That Built America series
Posted by: ZandraJoi - 02-27-2023, 08:53 AM - Forum: Farm Machineries - No Replies

Machines This is a series from the History Channel. We watched the one for Food & Toys. I'm putting this here as, even though it looks like many here are not from the USA, you may still enjoy how farm equipment got their start. Season 1, Episode 1 has to do with Tractors such as John Deere, Ford, CAT.

What do you think you get out of gardening? Do you feel it helps your physical state? What about mental & emotional as far as being for stress reduction?
I find it is great for physical conditioning but the act of pulling weeds, tending to your garden, flowers, & seeing them grow is rewarding for the mental aspect as well.

Does anybody have succulents? What is your favorite plant? Is there any in this list you haven't heard of?
I heard of about half of these. The others are quite new. Ironically, I tried succulents years ago & didn't have success. Since they are an easy to care for plant, I'm thinking the ones I bought were already damaged.

Do you use fowl for insect control? What types do you like to use? Are some better than others? While we don’t have any, we had thought about it.

Have any of you tried to do a French drain? This is for those who need drainage but also would like it below ground so it wouldn't ruin the appeal of the landscape.

  Solar Cooler
Posted by: Greencorner - 02-12-2023, 08:49 PM - Forum: Solar Energy - Replies (6)

Did anyone have a solar cooler or make one themselves?
I wish to have one, but it takes too much money for two months' use in a year. Do you prefer solar power or an alternate current cooler as the cost of electricity continues to rise year after year?
